Travel to London from the United States in the time of Covid - a few tips & tricks

I've lived in London for almost 5 years and have travelled back and forth between the United Kingdom and the United States on many occasions.  As London is coming back to life, I have been getting questions from friends coming this way on all the cool things to do. Unfortunately, some things aren't as exciting - like figuring out Covid tests, UK phone data, and how to get home from the airport.  But someone's gotta do it.

It’s been almost 4 full months of lockdown and my mind goes from “everything’s OK”, to “OMG, I have to get out of here!”  Even though London is easing up on lockdown, the idea that me and my family are sans a car (or a UK driver’s license) for the summer and then would have to deal with public trains to go to a claustrophobic crowded beaches with rocks - let me say no. Nope, nope, nope.   I’ve got other plans.  But first, an open art studio!
