I have been dreaming of doing a floral series! Using a silkscreen technique, each of these mono prints resembles a painting. What I love about it are the random oops and mistakes that can happen along the way that contribute to the perfect imperfections of each.
I’ve been drawn to the Protea flower lately, something my Australian friends also calls the “Sugarbush.” Last year as I was developing a separate piece about the word “Courage” I started to research this plant and thought that it was a perfect expression of the word. These hard blooms survive fires and come back strong.
I hear many rumblings nowadays from friends going through changes. And the word “Courage” often comes to mind.
Courage in chaos
Upside twisted off balance
Strength blooms from nowhere
One of a kind, hand painted (two layers!) on a silk screen, then printed each time on Fabriano 300GSM cold press paper. I work out of a screen print studio in East London called The Print Club.
I do my best to capture the true colors of this original, but please note that colors may appear differently on your screen.
Due to the nature of the painting then the screen print process, there may be slight flaws that are part of the charm of an original, hand made mono print.
Image size: 50 cm x 70 cm
Paper size: 22” x 30” (56 cm x 77 cm) - this is slightly bigger than a standard 50 x 70 cm frame and can easily be cut down to fit.
