I have to say, I didn't know much about the Mimosa bloom until a year or so ago. When a florist told me that it would be one of my favourite flowers, she was right! Soft pom pom like fluffy blooms all clustered together. Even when they dry up a bit, they still display a playful elegance to them. I love them!
This Mimosa series is a celebration of this sunshine infused bloom and the significance that it plays for celebrating women, but also kindness and grace. Strength and beauty. I wish it bloomed year round! That said, I'm going to try to plant one this year and see what happens. In the meantime, I'm always happy when it pops up on the flower stand and even happier to see it as a work of art for year round sushine in your home.
This Mimosa series is typical of my monoprint technique - I paint directly onto the silkscreen and then pull the squeegee to transfer the image to an archival, high quality, 300 GSM paper.
Any imperfections aren't flaws, but part of the beauty of the art and are meant to be celebrated.
23 cm square paper. The image itself is 12 cm square and fits perfectly into the matte and frame of the Ikea 25 cm2 SANNAHED frame beautifully.
